The Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr Federico Trillo-Figueroa Martínez Conde, today visited the Operational Headquarters of EU Naval Force at Northwood Base, North London. He was met by the Deputy Operational Commander of Operation Atalanta, Rear Admiral Bartolomé Bauzá.
During his visit, the Ambassador was given a brief on EU Naval Force Somalia Operation Atalanta which is the European Union’s counter piracy mission off the coast of Somalia and in the Horn Of Africa region. He was also given a tour of the Headquarters.
Following the briefing the Spanish Ambassador met the Spanish Navy staff officers currently working in the Operational Headquarters and attended other briefings within Northwood HQ, including a brief at NATO Maritime Component Command (NATO MARCOM).
