The South African yachtsman, who yesterday escaped capture by pirates when he refused to cooperate with their demands, was this afternoon transferred to South African authorities in Mombasa, Kenya.
The yachtsman, who was skipper of the vessel, was rescued yesterday by the EU NAVFOR warship FS FLOREAL and taken onboard another EU NAVFOR vessel. The whereabouts of the other two crewmembers, who were taken ashore by the pirates, is still unknown and EU NAVFOR continues monitoring the situation.
