Between 19 - 22 May 2017 EU Naval Force Flagship, ESPS Galicia, paid a visit to Antisiranana to strengthen the strong bond that exists between the EU Naval Force and the people of Madagascar.
The Force Commander, Rear Admiral Rafael Fernández-Pintado Muñoz-Rojas, warmly welcomed the chief of the headquarters of the Magalasy Armed Forces and other regional officials from the Antisaranana.
After a tour of the bridge and flight deck, the dignitaries were given a presentation on EU NAVFOR’s mission and the flagship’s capabilities, followed by a briefing on the embarked Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (UAV), code-named Scan Eagle.
Visits such as this contribute to the understanding of EU Naval Force’s commitment to countering piracy and the strengthening of maritime security in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.
