On Tuesday 28 September, Force Commander, Rear-Admiral Philippe Coindreau met Rear-Admiral Sinan Ertugrul, Commander of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF - Task Force 151).
The meeting took place on board the CMF Turkish Flagship GOCKCEADA, off the Eastern Somali coasts. The two Commanders took the opportunity to meet when their two Flagships met with the EU NAVFOR German tanker FGS RHOEN to conduct refueling at sea.
This was a unique opportunity for EU NAVFOR to exchange information and maintain mutual understanding and knowledge with one of our key partners in the fight against piracy, said Rear-Admiral Philippe Coindreau.
Coordination between the Task Forces operating in the Horn of Africa is of paramount importance in order to optimize their action and facilitate information sharing. This is especially importance given the size of the operational area and the coordination of a large number of ships from many different countries.
