Partnerships and cooperation are now more important than ever in maritime security operations.

After the meeting, initially scheduled for 2020, had to be postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, members of the EU Naval Forces Somalia, travelled to Amsterdam to meet with representatives of the Somali community coming from different parts of the Netherlands to join the meeting.

In order to keep fluent communications with the most relevant EU Shipping Industry representatives, EU NAVFOR Operation Commander visited the European Community Shipowners’ Associations Headquarters in Brussels and was received by its Secretary General, Mr. Martin Dorsman.

On 13th September, CRIMARIO II team led by Mr. Martin Cauchi-Inglott visited EU NAVFOR OHQ and held a working session with EU NAVFOR Staff members.

Following a long period of COVID-19 imposed virtual meetings, the new representatives of the EU Delegation to Somalia got together with the commanders of EU NAVFOR Somalia, EUCAP Somalia and EUTM Somalia for introductions and to take stock of the current activities.

Last 6th September, the Chief of the Maritime Security Centre in Muscat, Commodore Mohamed Hamoud Al Zadjali, heading the Omani delegation, visited the Operation Headquarters of EU NAVFOR Operation Atalanta.

 From the dawn of EU NAVFOR ATALANTA in 2008, the contribution of the Republic of Djibouti to the tasks derived from its mandate has been a key factor in the current success of this EU Operation.

Rota, August 18th, 2021. - Last Friday, August 13th, EU NAVFOR ATALANTA Joint Operation Centre received an alert according to which the motor vessel (MV) ANATOLIA (IMO 9005869) was under attack by a skiff with 4/5 armed persons on board.

On 4th August 2021, RAdm (IT N) Luca Esposito handed over command of Task Force 465 after 141 days of being deployed in the Western Indian Ocean.
